On 2 November 2025, our team visited Kulmiye Boarding College, a rehabilitation and education centre that shelters and educates former street children, to extend tangible support that enhances both their learning and daily wellbeing.
Kulmiye Boarding College provides a safe home, a structured education, and a path toward reintegration for children who previously lived on the streets. To contribute to their journey, Kaalo Nederland donated sports equipment, clothes and essential learning materials to 45 children in this college. The donation included sports jerseys that encourage active participation, teamwork and a sense of belonging. Research and local experience show that access to sports improves school attendance, builds social cohesion and supports emotional resilience, which makes this contribution particularly meaningful.
Given that the visit took place during the peak of the winter season, the children also received blankets and warm clothing to help them stay comfortable and healthy. To strengthen their academic progress, Kaalo Nederland supplied exercise books, pens and other basic learning tools. Each child also received a durable water bottle to ensure they have a clean and safe way to store and drink water.
This activity was made possible through the collaboration of the college volunteers and the Local Government of Garowe, who continue to work tirelessly to provide these children with a stable home, a school and a space to play. Kaalo Nederland is proud to complement their efforts.
We remain committed to supporting both current street children and those who have already transitioned into rehabilitation centres like Kulmiye. Our goal is to contribute to a future where every child has safety, dignity and the opportunity to learn.
