This project is providing drought-affected former nomads in Puntland, Somalia with practical fishery training and skills, helping vulnerable families rebuild income sources and strengthen long-term resilience. The training covers safe fish handling, processing, and basic business skills, enabling participants to transition into new livelihood opportunities as climate change continues to affect traditional pastoralist ways of life. In addition to the core training, participants receive fishing boats and fishing nets upon completion to help them start earning immediately. The project also supports market linkages and trains fish-selling women on business management to strengthen the entire value chain. Trained fishermen are organized into fishing crews that form a cooperative for better coordination, safety and collective growth. The project focuses on supporting the breadwinners of 20 poor households who are seeking sustainable alternatives after losing their traditional livelihoods.
